It is sometimes quite difficult to get stocking fillers for toddlers aged between 18 – 30 months. Whether they are a boy or a girl at this point in time doesn’t matter but what is important is that they are kept safe and entertained. An entertained toddler at Christmas is a joy to watch. That is probably why Hollywood keeps showing us all “happy Family” pics with a toddler sitting near a big Christmas tree with eyes glowing adoringly.

The reality is though if one isn’t careful; is that this can all come tumbling down and the poor kid spends their Christmas Day in Hospital. All because of something that got missed. We all tend to forget that at this lovable, but actually quite difficult age the child is active enough to get into mischief and too young to know not to do it.

That is why knitted Christmas stocking fillers are so good for this age group. The toys can all be knitted from wool and stuffed with safe materials so that you know exactly what is in them and there can be no surprises of suddenly finding a child choking from putting something into a more than willing mouth that fell out of a supposedly safe toy.

There are so many toys available at Christmas time that they can’t possibly all be checked for compliance. Suspecting this to be the case, it’s worthwhile remembering that whatever you give to a child this age is going to be put into their mouth. So that means it will need to be washable.

Because the toy is likely to be banged around regularly it needs to be unbreakable preferably, and also soft enough not to damage heads or furniture. A child of this age also needs bright, cheerful happy toys that they can relate to and giggle at as they munch on them. Knitted stocking fillers are just the answer for toddlers of this age and these are the toys that seem to be kept for them though the years.
